About Ken Boekhaus

Ken grew up in a small village in west central Illinois. At a young age, he became an avid reader and crafted stories in his head while doing such menial chores as mowing, raking and picking strawberries. In school, he excelled in science, winning many awards at high school science fairs. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana and a Master’s in Business Administration from Governors State University.

Over a 41-year business career, he worked in several industries, including automobile manufacturing, petroleum refining and retailing, electronic payment processing, software and business consulting. His varied interests are represented by the various disciplines in which he worked—automotive aerodynamics, fuels R&D, lubricants R&D, retail marketing, franchising, sales, business development, information technology and management.

An avid auto racing fan, he raced a Formula Ford in the Sports Car Club of America in his thirties. Today, his racing is limited to a racing simulator. He attends several races each year, including several of the Mazda MX-5 Cup races.

An active member of the Carrollton Writers Guild for the last ten years, he currently serves as treasurer and critique group facilitator. During the pandemic in 2020, he published his first novel, Too Many Suspects, a mystery/thriller, available from Amazon.

Ken and his wife of fifty-two years live on a small lake west of Atlanta, GA, where they enjoy boating, fishing and entertaining their two children and five grandchildren. When not writing, Ken reads, tours Civil War battlefields and tries to sing karaoke.

He next plans to finish and publish a science fiction thriller he has been working on for several years.
